Whether it was your Grandma, Mom, or good friend who always checked you or told you the truth about your behavior, circumstance, or looks, black women always knew that we would be held accountable under the smallest of scrutiny due to our society and us being Black Females in America. Knowing we would always be held to a higher standard, our village strengthened and scolded us to make us better. Better at what we do, better at how we see ourselves, better at gathering our perspective, all the while understanding other's perspectives as well.
